Take Up Outdoor Activities For Good Health

We live in an era where the most common thing that we do during th whole day is sitting and that too mostly in front of computers. The reason is simple that in this era of internet and electronic communication everything is happening in the monitor in front of us.

We have actually lost touch with the outside world. Our world is the internet. This is very good because it is because of this that we have been progressing as a society but I can say that on other fronts especially the health we are actually going back a few steps.

Just imagine your life without compuers. A computer means that you always will be having a sedentary lifestyle. Most of the jobs that we do have a sedentary way of working. If we want to play games then our best bet is not the outdoor basket ball court but now a giant monitor screen where we can play video games with players across several nations. This is all very great because of the achievements of computers and advancement of technology.

It is the same technology that is playing havoc with our lives. The constant sitting has begun to harm our back and causes the strain to our eyes. We eat, we sit and we sleep and there is no time for games. This is causing obesity in then newer generations. They do not toil and never want to venture out to do some manual work. There is simply no exercise.

This is just a very sad thing which is happening with our society. But do not panic there war ways to correct this and that way to take up a sport which is outdoors. Like skiing or trekking. You can take deer hunting or turkey hunting as that provides ample opportunities for you to enjoy the nature around you. Plus it will give you good amount of physical activity and will make sure that each and every muscle in your body is worked upon.

There are a lot of folks who go to the gym regularly but the fact remains that it still an indoor activity and the main aim to enjoy the nature and get some breath of fresh air. This fresh air will rejuvenate your senses as well as help your mind and body relax. You set up a schedule and then stick to it whatever may be the work pressures if you want to enjoy the outdoors.

Health Is Your Greatest Asset

If you are like many people who take the entrepreneurial plunge, you do so most successfully when you are approaching or entering into middle age. Your middle-aged years are also ironically around the time many people start to suffer problems with eroding health and weight problems. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have the best of both worlds: financial freedom and optimal health?

I once heard Dr. Dennis Kimbro say on a television interview that most millionaires fail a few times in business, and suffer some bankruptcies before they become successful. Another salient point he made is that most of people become millionaires around fifty years of age. Why this is the case I don't exactly know, unlike Dr. Kimbro I can only speculate on these matters.

My observation of many people makes me think perhaps the middle-age launch into business ventures has to do with people finding the confidence later in life. You have to have self-assurance to risk business ventures. Usually people don't have this type of business confidence until after they have run other peoples businesses.

Or at least they feel more confident once they have worked for other people.

Andrew Morrison, the owner of Small Business Camp, once alluding to the book "Think and Grow Rich" said that many men become more successful in their middle years because they are less focused on sexual pursuits. I can relate to this because when I was in my twenties I would be too focused on dating, to have the focus to run a viable business.

However, what would be the point of having a successful business if we don't have the health to enjoy it?

Most people would agree business is a very competitive and challenging. It also stands to reason you should try to be at peak performance when undertaking a business venture. This is why you should seriously consider investing in your health to afford you the extra push -- to drive you to business success.

Some of the major reasons you may want to bolster your health and overall fitness are because:

 - Studies show exercise helps relieve stress

 - Exercise helps elevate your mood

 - Exercise will help you think more clearly

 - Resistance training will help increase your muscle and bone density which tend to decrease with age

 - Stretching after exercise will to help keep you flexible which also tends to decrease with age

 - Regular strenuous exercise can help you increase natural hormones in you body like testosterone which will increase muscle mass, sexual desire, and overall health

These are just some of the many well-known benefits you will achieve with a regular exercise program. It is no wonder that I find many people who are successful in business come from athletic or sports backgrounds. Many successful entrepreneurs have a regular fitness programs.

If you are a woman who has had children and find yourself with some undesired pounds good balanced workout programs could be considered from people like Denise Austin http or Donna Richardson. For men you may like the workouts of people like Billy Blanks and his TaeBo system.

According to fitness trainers like Denise Austin, the focus of your workout should be on the balance of strength training, aerobics, and flexibility.

Most fitness experts like Jason Martin of the BODeStore.com make the point that strength training as alluded to earlier "will increase bone density and muscle mass, aerobics will burn fat and give you more cardio fitness, and yoga or martial arts will help counter the inflexibility associated with age".

One thing you may experience as you age is you don't obviously have the natural energy you had when you were sixteen years old. Another problem you may experience is pain in your joints like your knees.

If you notice pain in your knees and elbows especially on damp or humid days you may be experiencing the on-set of arthritis. Arthritis can be demoralizing when you are trying to obtain optimal health. It is definitely something you didn't have to worry about or contend with when you were in your twenties. Don't let arthritis totally derail your pursuit of health in your most productive midlife years!

Seek the help of your doctor and perhaps explore some alternative remedies of relief. Personally I have found that some alternative treatments to be superior to pharmaceutical drugs. I hear good things about the supplement Phosoplex(tm) in helping with arthritis and other joint problems.

The most important thing is to remember when embarking upon a health and fitness program is to do so with moderation. Don't overdue it and risk injury. Make sure you invest in good fitness shoes with good heel and ankle support. In Denise Austin's words "avoid boredom by doing various physical activities that you enjoy with your family". If you are quite a bit over weight maybe start out with walking more.

In the end what does if profit you to become a millionaire, but you are totally unfit to enjoy your investment? Like the saying goes "your health is your greatest asset".

Mental Health-watching The World Go Crazy

Nobody knows why or how the American public is starting to suffer at astronomical rates from issues that deal with mental health and mental instability. Yes, there are trying times in the world these days, but people have always been able to cope with them in the past. Still, it is a sign of the time that people are starting to become frustrating with dealing with the overwhelming burdens of stress and those problems are not going away. There is a growing concern among medical practitioners that these problems are not going away and more people are needing medical help to deal with those problems that are brought on by stress and medical needs.

Anyone can have their health measured by a physician, simply by going in for a regular checkup, but when it comes to mental health things can get a lot more complicated. An hour-long session can cost a patient a lot of money and there is not a doctor in the world that can change someone's life in that hour. It costs a lot of time and a lot of money to figure out what is going on when it comes to deal with issues about mental health. Loading up on medications might seem like the perfect answer to cure anything, but it is not the perfect idea.

Mental health is a fragile issue and is not easy to analyze because it doesn't involve simple medical practice. It involves getting inside someone's mind and trying to figure out what the problem is through talking and relating, rather than a simple blood test. There are a lot of mental issues ranging from ADD, ADHD, to depression, but they can only be controlled by working with the person's mind. Drugs are not necessarily the right way to find out the right answers to the problem.

It is believed that more than three quarters of individuals in America are suffering from mental health issues and many are still not receiving the medications and counseling they need to manage these issues. Mental illness is said to be the cause of much of the deviant behavior in our society as well and that many of those who are in jail and homeless in this country are actually in the predicament they are in due to their mental health problems.

Mental health problems vary in severity and therefore the number of individuals being inflicted by these issues may actually be underestimated. Many medical professionals feel that the increased amount of stress in our society and the growing number of fragmented families has actually led to a huge increase in the number of mental health cases in our society.

It is easy to say that the medical profession is using mental issues as a reason to increase their own personal revenue, but mental illness is a problem that needs to be faced and right away. There is no way to tell for sure who is affected, but the issue is out there and needs to be addressed.

Crucial Minerals for Vibrant Health

Many of us, especially women, are deficient in calcium and magnesium. In fact, having a magnesium deficiency actually decreases the amount of calcium in your body! Thats because magnesium is necessary for calcium absorption. Supplementing with calcium wont drastically improve your calcium levels if you dont have adequate magnesium levels. So what is magnesium, and why is it so important?

Magnesium is an essential mineral that is involved in more than 300 enzyme reactions. The suggested RDA is 300-400 mg for healthy adults, but many of us get less than 150 mg a day. Low levels of magnesium can cause irritability, headaches, muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, muscle spams or twitches, constipation, and insomnia. Magnesium helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and promotes strong bones. Magnesium is involved in energy metabolism and protein synthesis. The metabolism of carbohydrates and fats depends on magnesium as the body requires it for completing certain chemical reactions. Its also important to note that the antioxidant glutathione requires magnesium for its synthesis. Glutathione is crucial for detoxification activities within the body and for the immune system.

One of the key benefits magnesium provides is relaxation. It relaxes the muscles and helps calm the nervous system. For women suffering from headaches, nervousness, or tension, magnesium supplements can help to ameliorate these conditions. An increase in magnesium will also promote strong bones by improving calcium absorption. Certain forms of magnesium are more available to the body, such as magnesium glycinate or citrate. Avoid magnesium oxide, which is a cheap version not used well by the body.

Natural, dietary sources include: green leafy vegetables, seaweed or green algae, avocados, nuts, beans, and grains such as brown rice and millet. Caffeine depletes the bodys stores of magnesium. Its easy to see why the majority of the American population is deficient, given our lack of vegetable consumption and high intake of coffee and soda. Taking a hot bath with Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) is a relaxing way to absorb this important mineral.

While calcium and magnesium are important minerals for bone strength and overall health, many women are unaware of certain valuable nutrients available for breast health. Just as women care for their bones, there are also natural ways to care for the health of their breasts. Compounds such as DIM (diinodolymethane, found in cruciferous vegetables), quercetin, and turmeric extract continue to demonstrate health benefits for women. DIM, an ingredient found in broccoli, has been well-researched for its ability to support healthy estrogen metabolism.

Are Health Food Bars Good for You

You would have read, seen or even had health food bars sometime in your life. They are easily available at grocery stores and food malls these days. You can have them while you drive or maybe sit and read a book, and they provide you instant energy and vitality as well. Most of the health food bars promise to give you energy and nutrients, and some even promise you with fat burning blessings too. And the best part is, the food bar doesn't taste bland, they are very tasty and delicious to have.

But sources say that most of the health food bars you find today are nothing but junk. Yes, they have the best packaging done and would also promise to give you the best results too, but some of the health food bars, the so called ones that is, are no different from the junk you find in candy and chocolate bars. They have enough of substances in them which would fatten you and that's because there are plenty of processed chemicals in them, over generously packed and laded. So if you thought that it was easy munching on the food bar and losing weight overtime, think again. You may just end up with a wider waistline and curse yourself for it.

So how do we know which of the health food bars are real and which ones should be avoided?

1.Most of the junk food bars would be found at supermarkets and grocery stores. They are manufactured in bulk and are sold off easily. They are manufactured with all the goodness in them so that customers like us crave for them all the more, and that's why you would find sweeteners added to them. Very rarely would you find genuine health bars at these places.

2.Check the food bars labeling and you would know if chemicals or natural substances have been used to make them. If the labeling has chemicals mentioned, it would be for the sweetening affect in the bars, which we crave for. But genuine food bars would have none of the chemicals. Look for labeling which has Trans fat or artificial flavoring and avoid them completely.

3.Real health food bars would be a tad lower on the yummy factor because the sweeteners are done away with, but they aren't bland to say so. You would have oats and other natural sweeteners used in it to give you the real deal. Think about this, if genuine bars have to be sweet, why isn't everyone slim and trim? 4.Check online and read what experts have to say about genuine food bars and the junk ones. This would give you a fair idea on which one to dig your fangs into and which ones to avoid.

5.Speak to your dietician and they would be able to tell you which of the food bars would be best for your body needs.

We wish you all the luck on your fitness plans!!  The food bar available in the supermarket is not always necessarily health food bars, so make your choice cautiously.

A Healthy Food Store Makes A Healthy Community

Stores tend to influence the communities that they are placed in. This is especially true of health stores, they tend to make the people around them "healthier", imagine that! People are making political and social decisions when they go shopping, and voting with dollars in a sense. They are deciding what kinds of places they will associate, and having a health food store as an option can lead to other overall healthy decisions as well.

A health food store first and foremost offers a community another way to make informed consumer choices. It can gather people from many walks of life around the issues of environment, agriculture, health, social justice and economy. It creates community health on many fronts. It recognizes the value of offering a community food with organic certification, high nutritional value, proven health benefits, and lower levels of processing, as well as foods which are necessary for special diets and produced relatively locally, providing environmental and economic stability.

Health food stores can support holistic health and healers through education and by helping people make connections. People shopping at health food stores make lots of connections. Perhaps most obviously, they connect the environment to farming, farming to food, and food to their own health. The accepted point of view is that ingesting vitamin and mineral supplements, super foods, whole and organically grown foods, and herbs and herbal preparations can positively affect one's health.

A health food store can purchase more locally produced food and other items than a large grocery chain with greater volume needs, it can be more responsive to individual customers' needs, and it can serve as a focal point for community education and activism on food related issues.

Health food stores can support an agriculture whose methods do not deplete soil, water, air, wildlife, or human community resources, as opposed to methods that rely heavily on petroleum products (like gasoline, chemical fertilizers, and pesticides) and/or exploited labor. In a time of political instability in the region where the greatest percentage of the world's oil reserves lie, and at a time when the U.S. is realizing the implications of its illegal and exploited (farm, amongst others) labor force, health food stores can offer valuable markets to farmers who practice more sustainable methods.

Farmers markets can be supported and promoted by health food stores. Many of these stores do not offer produce themselves, but even if they do, it does not need to be considered a conflict of interest. On Farmers Market days, farmers can often sell their "leftovers" to the local groceries and health food store. If a farmers market is located within city limits, many businesses will benefit from the influx of customers on what otherwise might be a slow day or time of day. Tourists are also attracted to farmers markets.
The issue of food is closely tied to our environment, health, social justice and economy, and thus, a health food store can contribute to community health in many ways.
